The City of St. Peters is located in St. Charles County on Interstate 70 about 30 minutes west of the City of St. Louis or 90 miles east of Columbia, French traders arrived in the Old Town St. Peters in the late 18th century. From 1830 to 1850, German Catholics also settled down along wit the French traders. The area gradually developed into a prosperous farming community and the settlement took its name from the first log church established in 1815, called St. Peters on Dardenne Creek.
Important highways include Highway 40, State Highway 94, State Highway 370, State Highway 79, and Highway 40/64.
