A city in Greene County, Springfield is the third largest city in Missouri covering a total area of 191.1 km² (73.8 mi²) of which land comprises 189.5 km² (73.2 mi²) and water 1.7 km² (0.6 mi²).
The city has mild climate than the upland plains or prairie sections of the state. In summers temperatures rise to 88 degrees F while in winters temperatures fall to 45 degrees F. The average annual precipitation for Springfield, Missouri, is 43 inches with 20 inches of snow.
